Cloud Backup

The growth of ecommerce and use of internet for carrying out business has fuelled the big data revolution. The rate of data generation has increased greatly and the need to protect and backup data is being felt more than ever. While there are many organisations that do not backup data on a day to data basis and those who do use backup methods which are not sufficient for today’s needs.

The use of cloud computing services is on the rise and using a cloud service is a sensible choice for managing your data. Cloud backup would provide benefits such as:

Various backup levels

It offers you the flexibility of choosing the kind of backup you want to take such as complete or incremental. Hence, after an initial full backup you can schedule incremental backups which would only back up those files which are modified or changed. This reduces the cost of backups as well as the time and resources utilised for backing up the data.

Scheduled backups

If you want the backups to run on a particular time and do not want it to interfere with your day to day tasks then you even schedule the backup task to your liking. They can also be synched to your cloud server to automatically backup data.

Compressed backups

Most of cloud backup provider’s use block level compression which allows compression of the data. This reduces the space taken providing additional savings. This could potentially reduce your backup costs by 10-20 times.

Remote backups

Where the backup is taken on remote locations which are away from your existing server location. So in case there is a disaster in your region your data would be safe in the other region. This provides disaster recovery so your business can function effectively in such times.

Security

The security of your data is essential and data security is managed effectively in a cloud environment. Cloud service providers use the necessary measures to protect your data. There is usually up to 256 bit encryption for securely backing up data.

The above mentioned benefits make cloud backups a much better and safer solution for the data backup needs of the businesses as well as individuals and should be considered as a the ideal backup solution.
